Having a BS in Math is a good start, but each State has different requirements.
I would call the State Department of Education or equivalent in the state you want to teach in and ask whet the requirements are.
You may need a certain number of credits in Education, in addition to your Degree, to get a teaching certificate.

With a BS degree in math, you will need to take a few more college classes, and then you will probably be able to find a teaching job easily. In each of our 50 states, the requirements are different, so you will need to first decide which state you would like to work in. Then, investigate that state's requirements. You can do an online search for the state's requirements, for example, search "Ohio State Teaching Requirements". Most states will have you take some psychology classes (adolescent psychology, child psychology) some developmental classes (child development, adolescent development), maybe a sociology class, and then methodology classes (teaching you HOW to teach.) Some states also require a class giving you a broad background on the Special Education arena and / or a class about the multicultural concerns of our times. You may have to take something like an American History class as well. If you go to school full-time, you could finish the classwork in about 1/2 a year... if you just take 1-2 classes at a time, it will take longer. The first thing to do is to get an idea of the requirements.
Another way is to call the local "regional office of education" and make an appointment with one of their advisors. If you can bring in a transcript of your college coursework, this person can be very specific and tell you EXACTLY what is required in that state.
Good luck! Math teachers are very much in demand now!

Certification in each state is different. Check with the State Dept of Education (or equivalent department) to find the certification process.
If your state is desparate for teachers, they may have an emergency certification process that would allow you to start teaching now, and to take education classes as you do.
But otherwise, certification would normally require a minimum number of ED classes or even an degree in education. Check with your university of choice on that -- one of two things will happen:
1. The university will honor your degree, and then your target would likely be an MAT -- Masters of Arts in Education.
2. The university may not honor your degree, in which case you would want to talk to an advisor about the quickest way to get the BA, BS or B.Ed. to start teaching.

Enter the Education Department in a college. It will take 4 years to get your bachelor's degree, and for high school, you will major in one or more of the disciplines (English, social studies, math, foreign language, home economics, physical education, or industrial arts), for example. Your program at the college should include a practicum where you will be teaching in a high school for 8-16 weeks. You then apply for certification as a secondary teacher through the state department of education of the state or states where you would like to teach.
Good luck!!

You will need to become certified as a teacher in the US. This is best answered by a college that specializes in teacher education or the school system you wish to work for in the future.
