They have feathery butts.
Kinda like pillows.

Mama hens do not crush their chilluns mainly because they are not exactly sitting on them, at least not in the sense that humans sit. They are more or less squatting on them; their feet continue to bear most of the weight. Nesting material also supplies a certain amount of support.
We are used to thinking of chickens as rather blimplike creatures from seeing the bloated carcasses on sale in the supermarket, but in reality a nesting hen is not quite so corpulent. Its underside is not rounded so much as V-shaped, the point of the V being the chicken's breastbone. In addition, the area around the breastbone is devoid of feathers. Together these two features give you a couple of shallow troughlike areas that permit the hen to apply maximum warmth to the eggs without making an omelet out of them. Not that the average hen in a commercial chicken farm has to worry about such things--her eggs are whisked away immediately for processing and packaging.

An egg is stronger than you think. Try crushing one on your forehead. And if she has a dozen under her, her weight is divided by 12.
Do you know which came first the chicken or the egg? According to Christopher it was the egg that contained a chicken that would lay and egg.

Egg shells are strong, if you apply the weight and pressure over a large area. And chickens are built to be able to sit on eggs like that.

The egg shape is one of the strongest structures in nature. Even a big fat chicken would never break one. Only i an egg is dropped or something like that will it break. If you place an egg so that you push the ends together with your palms you will need to push hard to break one and you may even fail to do so.

Have you ever seen the science experiment where they squeeze the egg very hard but it won't burst. That's how the chicken doesn't crush the egg.But also chickens are very light.

A) Chickend are very light.
B) I don't think they rest their full weight on them.
C) Eggs are actually stronger than you think: my family happened on a car wreck one time (the car had rolled completely over and was facing the opposite direction from where it was going) and it was all a mess, but the carton of eggs that they had wasn't hurt a bit.

I hate to get all techy on you, but the construction of an egg, makes it very easy for a chick on the inside to peck its way out, due to the concave, non weight bearing design whereas the outside, due to its convex design, becomes a weight bearing structure, similar to an arch, wherein the pressure is evenly distributed throughout the shell and is very difficult to break

They don't really put their entire weight on them, just close enough to give warmth for the eggs. Same when the eggs hatch, they hover above them, but not sit on them.

Plus, chickens are not very heavy.
