immediate treatment with statins has shown to be of benifit, so most doctors give a statin in the ER when evaluating a patient with a heart attack. Eventually lower the LDL (as close to 70 as possible) better it is. In recent studies the clot in the heart vessels has shown to regress in size somewhat too
