Why is rap music annoying?

To put it simply: It is bad.

Mostly because it's all about women, b*tches, sex, money, alcohol, and drugs. There isn't anything positive about it - it just demeans women and promotes abuse, substance abuse, and alcohol abuse.

I don't think it's a matter of people trying to be something they're not - doesn't everyone have the right to express themselves in a way that they feel comfortable with. If people associate with certain issues, why can't they express that. Saying white people shouldn't rap would be like saying black people aren't allowed to sing "white music", too! That's just not right.

But back to the real question...for me, rap gets annoying for the same reason as reality tv shows don't attract me. When you watch or listen to something, you are looking for a form of escapism for a while - to get you away from whatever is going on in your normal evey day life, and with any luck you'll end up feeling better about whatever.

As well as the degradation of women (how many 10 year old girls have you seen who are "almost" dressed and dancing like all the dancers in rap clips and who want to grow up to be just like those girls!), how can you possibly feel better when you listen to (or watch) stuff about domestic violence and b!tches and poverty and death and drugs and gangs and all the other associated negative things.

I like to feel uplifted or happy, not depressed by all the crap stuff going on in the world! That's what the news and current affairs is supposed to be for (but don't get me started on the sensationalist news reporting that is all the style now!)

Rap music sounds good only when I am at the club, and this is basically because I'm wasted. The rest of the time, I notice how unimaginative and repetitive it is. They can't even come up with their own stuff anymore, they have to sample past hits! Now that is just about as annoying as it can get!

maybe because you're generalizing all rappers and rap music by whats on the radio. there's more to rap than degrading woman and talk of bling bling. that's just what happens to be played on the radio because rap music has become a marketing tool. record executives don't care about music anymore they care about what it's gonna put in their pockets. the same can be said for the mainstream of any music genre that's out now. why is rock so different than it used to be? why is every single genre of music sound more like pop than it did 10 years ago?MONEY. like i said before that can be said for the mainstream of every genre of music. but once you venture in to the underground you find people who don't call a woman this and that, who don't talk about how much money they have. they talk about the beauty of woman in more than a physical aspect and more importantly they talk about the beautiful struggle of life that everyone has to go through. if you don't like it no one is forcing you to listen to it. if its on the radio change the station do the same with television. I'm not saying i don't like you for this question I'm not even going to write you off as an a sshole. because by asking this question you've raised the curiosity of someone who's never heard rap and made them want to know whats so annoying about it. sure you may have even made someone not like rap but more importantly you've help create new fans of real rap music and not the mainstream bullshyt.

Rap music is not annoying, I think when you dont understand a thing or view it from a particular paspective, it appears that way to you.

Because it is "amelodic." It is not really music, for the most part. Most rappers are unable to sing in the standard way. "Tone poems or verse with repetitive back beat" would be a good definition for rap music.

well the reason rap music is annoying is because its really not music. All it contains a bunch of black guys talking real fast and if its a white guy then they are just trying to act black so thats why its really annoying. i think that if ur black then act black but if your white then u should act white

i dont know.. but i find it very annoying also..i find it very dagrading towards woman.. im not a feminist of n e thing but thats the way i see it... i cannot stand to watch their videos.... plus one of my biggest pet peeves is when people cannot talk proper english... and there is not a rap song out there where people speak properly, and half time you can't even understand what they are saying! so that is my main reason why it is so annoying!

just because there is something in this world that YOU don't like doesn't mean it's annoying to ev eryone ..if you don't like it then don't listen to it ... it's that simple
