How did you feel when you found out that Santa wasn't real?
Did you feel betrayed? Did you ask "What, am I adopted too?"
Do you plan on conning your children just like all the others. Why don't we just tell them we got them the damn gifts and the reason we're eating a ham is because we thought it'd be nice to pretend Jesus was born on this day and taunt him with the fact that we're not letting him join in on his own party.

Dude, I'm not denying Jesus crawled out of a uterus ,but he definitely wasn't born during winter. That is historically inaccurate.

I felt betrayed. Now that I have two kids of my own I've decided to do it differently. I didn't want them to miss out on the whole Santa experience, and ruin all the fun for their friends by announcing there isn't one, so I've presented it to them as a "mystery". They have to look at the evidence, listen to what people are saying, and come to their own conclusions. I figured this would help them later in life, when they have to determine whether things like alien abductions are real, or if consuming pop rocks and coca cola will really make your stomach explode... whatever. When they ask me "Is Santa real?" I ask them "What do you think?" This way I won't have to feel guilty for lying to them, and they're getting what I consider to be a valuable life lesson in the process. :)

Oh boy do I remember that! I was about 12 or so when I found out. And my parents had gone to such great lenghts to make me believe: My Christmas presents were marked from Santa, we would always put out cookies and milk for Santa and the next day they would be gone..
And when I found out... I was hearbroken!
It never occured to me to ask if I was adopted or not.. but it did make me question many of the things they told me. And I was determined to NOT let my daughter grow up believing in Santa. And it was tough too.
Now as far as the last statment goes, we don't pretend that Jesus was born because it is something that we truely believe in our heart of hearts.
As to the party thing.. I think you have Jesus mixed up with Rudolf!

First of all it is Turkey.. not ham..... and I love the excitement of the morning waking up to see if he had been there. I am 30 years old and we still make a big deal of stockings in our house! My entire family purchase gifts for everyone to go into stockings and then we all go and enjoy what everyone else had purchased for us. It has become quite an event and the whole family gets into the spirit of things. It is a feeling that you only feel once a year.. the anticipation... the joy.... stop being such a spoil sport and enjoy! If you are so negative all the time your life will pass you by with out noticing all the wonderful things happening!

I believed in santa when I was young. It all seemed so magical it is one of my fondest childhood memories.Laying awake at night trying to stay awake so I could hear the reindeer and sleigh bells and hopefully catch a peek. It was just something to make childhood a little more special. As you begin grow up you start to realize on your own that it probably isn't true. It's not like you're still very small and really in the grip of the fantasy that your parents sit you down and tell you the truth. When children become old enough and start asking you if it's really true or not, then it's time to tell them because they are beginning to distinguish reality from fantasy. I certainly wasn't devastated from the news. I'm glad that I had the experience to really and truly believe in something that was almost to wonderful to comprehend. Haven't you ever pretended with your children /nieces or nephews? it's not like you're really trying to decieve them with a malicious lie. It's just playing make believe for short time in a childs life. They truly enjoy it and so do the parents. I never enjoyed anything more than watching the anticipation of my little ones in the days before Christmas .Wondering if they would see him this time. if they lay still and quiet enough could they hear him flying onto our house. My kids are 15,18 and 26 now . and every Christmas we talk about the chrismas' from years ago and each one will tell what they use to think they heard or saw of santa clause. They speak of it with joy in rememberence. They anticipate christmas with their own children , to see those same looks on their childrens faces that their father and I so loved to see on theirs. Oh.. the beauty of tradition. I know it's only september tomorrow but........MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

actually santa was once alive. He was from Finland and he gave poor children fruit and ither foods on the first night of the winter solstice ro award them for doing well.
He was called Saint Nicholas . Over time we changed the legend and made it the cash cow it is today.
I beleive that Santa is alive in every heart , chikd and adult, who gives to help others during the holiday season.

Myy family believes that Santa is real. All of our presents are still labeled "from Santa". But anyway, I do think Santa, as the spirit of Christmas, is real. My sister has had some experiences that I cannot explain that lead me to think that Santa and the reindeer are real.

Is Santa not alive in anyone who gives?
Do you feel ripped off in your life for some reason?
Are you suspecting you are adopted?
Do you have kids? Do you not embelish to keep them safe both physically and mentally on some minute scale?
Have you ever said grace, in your entire life?
And finally, who the hell eats ham at Christmas?

The story of Santa comes from the Vienesse legend of St
Nicholas. Who I recently learned had a companion named
Krampus. An evil spirit. You can take it from there.
