i use xp and used to freeze up also..you are running out of virtual memory.to fix problem do the following .start button,,settings,,control panel,,systems,,advance tab,,performance settings,,advance tab..at bottom it says virtual memory,change,,back space number listed,type in 560..click apply then OK..that should take care of problem..it did for me.
also adding more ram "hard memory" helps.i bumped mine up to 351MB.its not expensive to do.i think a 128 card runs about 20 bucks on eBay.
