Why do black people from Africa act nice and smile alot, but African americans look mean, like they are mad?

I go to a university, and I notice that the Black people from the US are always with a face of smelling shi*t. Like they are all pissed and will kick whoevers butt that looks at them wrong. Then you have the people that are foriegn exchange or on scholarships from nigeria or Ethiopia, and the are nice, and they smile, and they make friends with poeple in thier class. They also laugh and talk.. But the people from here are just like i dont know, what do you guys think

Ok first of all , for all you saying im racist, Im not. As a matter of fact, I fall under the minority catagory, along with balck people. I am a nice guy, I am just telling it the way I see it. So dont say because of people like me. What about me, I just go to school, and I am cool, with however is cool with me, I help people out in my classes if they ask me, no matter who you are. I just notice black US people act like they are all tough and mean n stuff, and I wanna know why? I hear you people saying because of oppression and slavery from 50 years ago, and that is pretty recent, but that was 2 or 3 generations ago so I dont get it. WHy cant you just smile?

Ok well, Africans from Africa made the choice to come to America and are grateful to be here. The American blacks, are more than likely ancestors of slaves. They were brought over here against their will and forced to "work the fields", or whatever. We only stopped discriminating against them less than 50 years ago. Those Black Americans have grandparents that had to sit on the back of the bus and use "Colored" drinking fountains. How would you act if you could still see the pain in your Grandma's eyes from being called a ****** everytime she left the house to go to school. It's hundreds of years of pain and mistreatment that doesn't just go away in less than 50.

Black is an AMERICAN term that some fool made as much as categorise human beings and unfold extra effective racism ( black, white, purple, yellow) they're all defective and punctiliously subjective. you're Honduran-American. Not all black people are the same. I'm sure there are plenty of white people that look like your inaccurate depiction of African-Americans. International students in general are very easy going people especially Indians, Middle Easterners, and Africans.

Very simple people from Africa were not born here they see this as a great place even they are treated better than the blacks born here.

My guess is African Americans have been denigrated for so long it's taken a toll and it manifests itself in their facial expressions.

Kind of like a battered child will flinch when someone makes a sudden move....they're programmed to expect the worse.

It's silly and dangerous to categorize people like this...It makes you pay less attention to exceptions and contradictions to what you conclude.

But I'd imagine what you say is possible. It could be that people from other countries are less keen to the issue of discrimination. It's simply not a threat and issue to them.

Because true Africans do not hold the chip on their shoulder that African Americans have. They don't care about what the white man did to their ancestors. And also because some of those countries are so third world that America looks awesome.

That is the best thing to say about people going to a new land and what they should do. Why did American's do that?

Maybe African American's are mad...at racist white boys like yourself that have been judging them all of their lives. The same African immigrants haven't had as much exposure and experience...yet! I don't know, what do you guys think?

But I've noticed that Polish immigrants smile more and tilt their heads slightly to the left. And Polish-Americans tilt their heads slightly to the right and don't really smile as often at me. Am I crazy? Or what?
