Almost everybody that walks this earth secretly think they are better than others. Only the most enlightened or depressed know better.

I'm an American and I think compared to most Industrialized countries we're about the same....some we're better & some not as good.
We used to be at the top but I don't believe we are anymore....other countries have made great strides and have pulled along side or passed us.
Nobody stays at the top forever.....it's a fact of life.

I dont think of all individuals have that view yet perchance a great style of the yank governments do. there is often this theory that they have the perfect theory and that they are the perfect and contemporary sort that something of the international could desire to maintain on with and to apply stress if mandatory. go in with the thinking that when a US invasion, they are going to be welcomed as liberators and this isnt limited purely to Iraq...Vietnam, Bay of Pigs etc. there is an extreme tendency to overlook the negatives of yankee background and to emphasise on the positives i.e. what became executed to the natives, that even with the promise of freedom a extensive inhabitants became dropped at US by ability of slavery etc. and there is an massive quantity of patriotism which looks to me to easily sell the present view and to be illiberal of something. no person recalls the "freedom fries" bit? Freedom of speech and opinion and all yet merely dont be extreme of the present government. talk approximately exams and balances.

Whoa whoa whoa calm down, this doesn't seem like a question, it sounds like a rant.
Patriotism is something that every nation has, whether they're canadian, British, Brazilian, African, any nation. You can't hate a whole continent just because they have love for their country. I do have to agree about the school system though, we're definitely over-tested on just about everything.

your description sounds like the schoolyard bully. the bully swaggers around the playground pushing around the other folk and some kids agree with the bully because they don't want to be next. some kids hide by tree behind the swings. etc.
thing is, everyone thinks the bully's got it all together because the bully is such a force and a power on the playground. . . but research shows the insides of bullies are full of insecurities and other issues. that's why they bully.
i like the usa, but i do think that it could stand some toning down on the shoving. so i guess my comment goes more towards america's governmental and international policies and not all americans because the "redneck conservatives" are not the majority--some of them just happen to be in power.
