To save money when we got married we had a buffet of appetizers. My Mom made several of them ahead and froze them. My parents belonged to a nice golf course and the lodge was available for parties at no cost to members. We paid the kitchen staff a nominal fee to serve the food.
The center pieces on the tables were inexpensive plastic containers. We purchased inexpensive daisys and picked ivy from my Mom's garden and simple white taper candles. They were lovely and cost almost nothing.
To save on drink costs, we had a non alcoholic punch and simple mixed drinks with alcohol we provided. It would be easy to not have any alcohol and just provide coffee, tea and punch.
Nowadays you can make your own invitations if you have a computer and a printer. Many of the large office supply stores sell nice looking blank invitations that you customize on your computer. Much less expensive.
As for music we did hire a 2 person group, but if I did it now we would probably get a DJ with a good selection of tunes. We have attended several receptions lately and the DJ seems to be the key to getting everyone involved in the party.
Photos are fine taken by friends, but appoint one person to get specific pictures. Think about what pictures you will want to see later and make sure you give a list to the designated person. We hired a guy that did pictures for the local newspaper. The pictures were beautiful, but some of the poses were missing. So make sure you get the picture of great aunt Tilly.
There are many ways to cut corners and still have a wonderful wedding. Use a search engine and search for weddings. You will be amazed at the sites that come up.
Best wishes to you and may your day be beautiful and within your budget.

Don't buy into all the magazines, and all that "perfect wedding" stuff. The wedding isn't what's important, the marriage is! I would go with a small ceremony somewhere outdoors, confined to immediate family and close friends, with a small reception, limited to h'doerves (or however it's spelled) and wine. If the wine is beyond the budget, do soda. What's important is that you are starting a new life with your lover, and those present should be there to celebrate that.

Why not have the ceremony at an active volcano?
Have the guests arrive in Humvees, wearing tuxedoes and flip-flops. The bride should be naked, and the groom dressed in a werewolf costume. The minister could be wearing a thong.
Consummate the marriage immediately while the guests participate in a bacchanalean orgy. When finished, instead of throwing rice, the bride and groom could be received under a hail of flame throwers.
At the reception, everyone should eat military rations (MREs), and drink until they pass out. When they do, attendants could carry them away until only one man and one woman are left. They should then marry immediately.

First, best wishes to you for a long and happy union!
Now, wedding ideas: have you considered the charm (and cost-saving benefits) of a Victorian Tea in the garden?
You don't have to have a huge, sit-down dinner to show your guests a pleasant time. Serve tea and fruit and little crustless sandwiches as well as cake, and no one will think they have been treated any less well than the Queen...particularly if you have a beautiful place to stage it!
Good luck, dear!

Would you not rather donate all the money you would spend on the wedding to a worthy cause, like Feed the Children, or Save the Poor Little Puppies, or Elect AlGore, or some other worthy cause?

Ask the members of your church for help. My brother's wedding was very simple - just deli-style sandwiches, potluck type deal, ladies at the church helped in the kitchen and kept the food coming, mixing punch, etc.
Create your own mix of music and burn it onto CDs
Ask friends and relatives for help with pictures and video.
Even the dollar store has cute stuff.
Remember - "Less is more" - this works to your advantage. Simplicity is key with decor, jewelry, food, etc.

Have a friend do your photography. I have done it for 7 or 8 people that I work with. I took a lot of photography classes in college so with me taking them for the couple I do it cheaply (usually as a gift) and that is one more thing they don't have to worry about.

I saw this show on Oprah where a couple got local restaurants to sponsor one dish each for the reception and in exchange you put their logo somewhere at the reception. I'm not sure what you're looking for but I bet www.oprah.com might have their tips still listed.
