music has as different influence on your brain than normal everyday noise and conversation , its something you can hear over and over again and take some time to get tired of , something that gets logged into your subconscious mind the center of where dreams come from can influence , and maybe give the illusion of dictation if your dreaming of what the lyrics say

Hmmmmm, quite an interesting question, Kimberly. :) Personally, I think the dreams and ideas that I have, dictate the types of music that I listen to, rather than the other way around, lol. I'm sure there are times however, when I hear a certain piece of music (preferably new age or classical), when I succumb to intense waves of dreaming and potentially new ideas or thoughts. Sooo, I guess I'm saying that it works both ways for me. :) I just know that if I'm in a very meditative mood, I will put in music that is very ethereal. Whereas, if I'm in a really upbeat, silly mood, I may choose to listen to high energy music. :)
The main thing I know, is this...I simply can't imagine not having music in my life. I absolutely adore it, and hopefully always will. :)
Another great question, Kimberly!
You really do ask amazing questions, and I am a huge fan. :)

"Nope Kimberly!
There can be no present evidence, or proof, that dreams and ideas were motivated or shaped by music one listens to; however, no one can deny music's charms on the conscious mind. I've had dreams and ideas derived from trauma, but, causality by music has no circumstance for fact. Causality cannot be satisfied by relationships of music, dreams and/or ideas and there juxtapositions.
I'll admit I've been highly motivated to action as a result of good music; however, I remain aware that it was I who decided upon action regardless of music's influence."

In my opinion, to some degree yes, everything we do,say ,believe in, and think about affect us in some way or the other. I believe the different types of music/genre affects our brain development, thus influencing the type of dreams we have. I had quit listening to rap music and certain r&b music and artists bcuz i personally believe that it has negative effects on my mind, it wasnt helping me get any closer to the type of person i would like to become. I say its very important that you have a good personality!!

I think that music has effects on our dreams and ideas. Try going to sleep to Beethoven one night, then Slayer:Seasons in the Abyss the next. Twisted dreams! But oh so lovely!

how do you know that the opposite isn't in fact the truth: that our dreams and thoughts dictate the type of music that we listen to.

I don't think so, but people do say it does. B/C personally I'm not going to do some of the lyrics in my songs.
