First thing: the bible doesn't tend to mention daughters. It was written in a time when society was male dominated, and thus people were interested in the male side of the family, and heirs. Daughters therefore were often not mentioned. Second thing was that Adam and Eve had more children later.

It's possible that God created more partners using ribs, like he did for Adam. It's also possible that they weren't against inbreeding (look at lots of animals like rats: they inbreed). It is society today which says inbreeding is wrong (partially maybe because of the inherent dangers to the gene pool). [NB I'm not saying inbreeding should be accepted.]

It's also possible that the Genesis is only a story (even many Christians believe this: the bible was written by people who didn't have any clue about the big bang, so what they wrote was how they understood it to have happenned), which would solve the whole problem.

The thing is, having killed Abel Cain went off to the Land of Nod. Who lived there ?, Considering there was only Adam and Eve left?
I once asked a priest this question ,and there was no explanation ,except not to take the bible too literally .

Adam lived over 900 years and had sons and daughters.

Inbreeding from two perfect parents would not be a problem. The further you get from the originals (Adam and Eve) the more problems arise.

Post to other answerers: read your Bible before you try to answer questions about it.

I'm baffled to!. If you take yourself for example you have 2 parents.Obvious he cried. Your parents have 2 parents and so forth. More and more branches sprout, or, double the further back you go. How then can we break this down to get back to Adam & Eve?...are we from multiple Adam & Eves... from all over the world... ?

Surely you do not believe in these childish stories do you. Adam and Eve are a figment of someones imagination trying to explain nature to someone not too bright. Plz do not underestimate our creator. He is capable of much more than that. Accept Adam and Eve as a couple who disobeyed our creator and were put on earth to repent for their mistakes like all of us present on this earth as living beings.

They had more than two sons. They also had daughters. At the beginning people were purer (no diseases, or birth problems etc) so things weren't passed down gene wise. God told them to be fruitful and multiply the world so at that time it was not an incest issue. As the human race continued past Noah a bit further and cousins became more distant and sin more prevalent the birth defects and disease.

Adam and Eve had more children than just Cane and Able.

Yes they were inbred, but Adam and Eve were perfect. Because of the inbreeding, we are not perfect.

Their were more people than Adam and Eve. They are just the ones who commited a sin, and brought sin onto earth.

They had a lot of children, and would have had to marry their sisters. (Although I'm not sure Abel was married). That's why they say everyone on earth is related in one way or another. Later on, the younger generations had more to choose from, like cousins, then second cousins, and now there are just so many that we don't need to choose (and really shouldn't!) a close relative.

After Cain killed his brother, there's only Adam, Eve, and Cain left. Let me tell you about the birds and the bees and you can figure out for yourself what happened.
