I'd take him to the library and the natural history museum and if possible introduce him to experts and encourage his natural curiosity. I might even tell him about the Loch Ness monster which some people think, if it exists, might be a sort of displaced dinosaur. Maybe rent some cool educational videos about dinos and monsters. I'd ask him to tell me everything he knows about dinosaurs and find out if he is afraid of being eaten by one. I would assure him that even though some modern birds and reptiles are related to dinosaurs the big scary ones like T Rex are extinct. God what I wouldn't give for a six year old. They are so much fun!

Why would I correct him? the six year old boy would be correct. Crocadiles, alligators, caymans, snakes, among thousands of other reptiles are in fact dinosaurs. If I was to do anything with this six year old I would take him to a zoo and show him many reptiles.

If you try and he does not understand,do not insist more. Why?because that is the children's world and fantasy. When this kid is growing up,he will understand;so,do not worry about it.My daughter, when she had 5 years old believed that Barney the big bear was real.I told her: is a man with a dress like bear.she said: No daddy,Barney is real.I say:okay. Now she is a beautiful lady, and I told her:remember when you said that Barney was real, and she say: yes daddy,I remember, well I was a little girl.Good luck.

Of course, I mean it's not like it's Santa Clause or the Easter Bunny. It's not going to hurt him if you tell him the truth. He should know they don't exist, I mean he's 6 and in school he will learn they aren't anyway.

Let him be a child. These days we sometimes force children to grow up too fast.
Another bit of advice: Join him for some time together in that place where they exist. You might enjoy it!

Why do you want to rain on his parade? He's right, actually, donosaurs do exist in different forms such as birds and other reptiles. Maybe a trip to a natural history museum would be good for YOU, too!
Have fun and learn from the children.

No, I'd tell him that a T-Rex is gonna eat him in his sleep tonight.
Of course I would correct him, do you want little dumbasses running the world in the future, make sure you let him know that Pluto isn't a planet anymore either.

Let him believe whatever he wants! Some of us still believe in fairy tales! Prince charming and all. Life is so full of misery and horror. Keep him fantasizing for as long as you can. Unless he starts having nightmares off course.
