In the St. Louis area, we have had:
Charter http://www.charter.com/
Southwestern Bell /AT&T http://att.sbc.com/gen/landing-pages?pid=3308
CenturyTel http://www.centurytel.com/
Verizon http://www22.verizon.com/forhomedsl/channels/dsl/bridge/default.asp?promotion_code=VZBNR/W28&variant=

Also, I work for Family Video and we offer dial-up service through PeoplePC. There are two plans. First is PeoplePC Accelerated - More email, free tech support. Surf up to 5x faster. $5.47/mo. for 3 months, then only $10.95/mo. Second is PeoplePC Security Plus Complete security with PC Virus/Spyware Protection and Firewall. Plus FREE Accelerator. $7.97/mo. for 3 months, then only $15.95/mo. You don't need a credit card to join either.

If that option sounds good, let me know and I can get you signed up through the store (it's suppose to be easier than doing it online).

Good luck!

You'd have to go through the phone company or a Satellite provider or something else. Cable operators have territories just like electric companies, sometimes you don't have a choice in "Cable" companies. PS-they are all pretty expensive by the time you add the FCC fees, taxes and everything else. The cheapest alternative is "dial-up" through a phone line and then you can get free or cheap internet from places like Juno. I've also heard that AOL is now free?

It depends where you live. There's a small company called RCN that provides cable/internet/phone packages.
