An unmarried 62 year old man is so close to his 92y.o.a. mother. He sees her each weekend massages her feet, takes her out to dinner, and always walks her down the aisle in weddings, (even if he is groomsman and has a bridesmaid) which he gives up just to be by his mother's side.
His mother calls him all the time asking who he lives with whose over his place, and she wants her son always to be by her side, and calling her. (Her own hubby died 8 years ago.)
She even calls out his name in dreams and nightmares early in the morning and always thinks he is present in the house when he lives far away.
Is this relationship normal? Or is this a mother who loves her son like her husband? And the mother wants to pick out a wife for her son, but the son claims he wants someone exactly like his mother. He looks at his mother so lovingly, in an unusual kind of way like a love relationship between man and woman.

you have got to remember that she is 92! How much time do you really think they have with each other? A close relationship with our parents in this country should be valued. I married a man that is just like my dad and I did that because my dad is a wonderful person with a great personality and one of the kindest souls on this earth! Now that my dad is dieing I want him to be cared for and loved and to know that I love him! I call him everyday. As a mother myself my children will allways be the greatest love in my life.

Why do i have a feeling this is a novel your writing and testing it out on us "wonderful yahoo people"?
How could you know that she calls out in her sleep, and in dreams and nightmares, unless you are in bed with her?
AND YOU PRACTICALLY READ BOTH THE MINDS OF THE PEOPLE YOU ARE SPEAKING OF,,
WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?
are you the mom, that you are speaking of?
OR THE SISTER, OF THE MOM, WHO IS JEALOUSE BECAUSE YOU NEVER HAD CHILDREN OF YOUR OWN AND YOUR "DEAR SISTER" has such a close relationship with her son??
lots of possibilities .. (the part about loving her son like a husband) IS REALLY BAD, THAT IS WHY I THINK THIS IS BASED ON A MOVIE YOU SAW OR ARE WRITING,\
ONCE AGAIN, YOU DESCRIBE EACH UNUSUAL DETAIL WITH "SUCH PASSION".. so why don't you,, tell us the real "scobie doo"

It sounds like she is literally sucking the life out of him. Unfortunately, it has been going on for so long that to him, it has become the norm. He may or may not realize how controlling and messed up this situation is, but you can bet that he will not be the one who changes it. Death will have to be the responsible party in this movie. But, when it happens, if it is her that goes before him, chances are great that he will go soon after. He won't know how to begin to have a different life. It will be too foreign to him. Good or bad, this has always been his life, and its the only one he really knows how to participate in.

This sounds like emotional incest. This is where the mother and son have an unnatural bond emotionally. Like in the movie Psycho.

It doesn't really sound normal or healthy to me, but who are we to judge their relationship or their lives? If they are happy living that attached to each other and aren't hurting anyone then we should let them be.
