May 1 to Nov 1.
This is a slow year so far. But we have a long way to go. This past storm was a pussycat.
2004 was unreal and last year you could feel the effects of Katrina and other hurricanes. I knew people here in Cenral Flordia who lived her for 30 years and weren't hit by a hurricane one time, then we got blasted in 04.
Hopefully things will remain calm!

I'm new in the state of Florida, and recently i've researched some information on hurricanes that hit Florida and they said that Florida is due for a Catastrophic Hurricane in a greater magnitude then Katrina. The chances for getting that hurricane as a direct hit is on the gulf coast, anywhere from Panama City to Naples.

Although some storms have formed out of season, hurricanes pose a threat during hurricane season, which lasts from June 1 to November 30.

like everyone else says hurricane season ends in november. hurricanes usually dont start up till later in the season (around this time) so in a way its just getting started. its hard to predict how many will hit since thre are alot of factors that come into play such as low pressure zones, wind patterns, water temperature and land, there have already been 5 tropical storms that could have developed into hurricanes but luckily didnt except for ernesto our most recent one became a category 1 which just blew through your way a few days ago. make sure your prepared for one since you are new to florida. stock up on supplkes liek flashlights, batteries, water, unperishable food, ect. enough to last you and whoever else your with for 3 days. its suggested to get a gallon of water per person for each day you need to wait. also maje sure you konw the evacuation routes too!.
so anyways theres still a few months left for hurricane season. be safe and dont underestimate to power of mother nature =)

Traditionally, peak season is August, Sept. But I think officially, June thru October or November. The frequency fluctuates as does the severity of the storms.
btw, Wikipedia has some great information about hurricanes and the history of hurricanes. NOAA also does. These would be great places to read up about them.
Try not to worry about them, though. Be prepared and stay informed and you'll get to think of them as much or as little as the longtime residents do.

The season starts 1 June and goes thru the first week of November. Most active month is August followed by September.
Still got another couple of months in the hot seat.

Not over yet. Usually happens around this time of year. Just remember Katrina a year ago in August then you'll never forget when it usually comes. You'll be forewarned by your local and governmental authorities. You should always check your weather everyday just to be prepared. Well, lets pray for sunshine over there:)
