The obvious places to white pages search or google search her and her husband are Anchorage (Fort Richardson - Army and Elmendorf AFB) and Fairbanks (Fort Wainwright - Army and Eielson Air Force Base). There are few smaller facilities (like Fort Greeley) but they are much, much smaller without the large flux of soldiers and airmen passing through Fairbanks and Anchorage(some on their way to Iraq).

So go on some internet white pages and enter John Smith and Anchorage and try her name or initials and then try for Fairbanks.

Google search on their names, putting the name in quotes "John Smith" or "John A Smith" (hopefully it is something unusual). If it is not unusual, then combine it with Alaska. Or with interests of organizations they below to "dog show" or "poddles" or "NRA" etc.

I don't know if this would work, but it only costs four times $0.39 to try: Address an letter to:

Soldier John Smith
Fort Richardson
Anchorage, AK 99505

etc

for each of the four facilities.

Seems like the military OUGHT to get it to them in a few days if they're somewhere on base. All military personnel move around a lot so their mail handling has dealt with this before.
