If a werd in the dictionary wer misspelled, it depends on how it appears in the dictionary. For example, if every word like it wer spelled the same way throughout the dictionary including the definitions (sort of like "wer" in this answer), then we probably would not know. If there wer instances where the word is spelled one way in one place and the werd is spelled another way in another place (like "word" in this answer), then we could tell which is wrong. For example, the word "word" is spelled more often as "word" than "werd" in this answer, so we could guess that "werd" is misspelled.
This is a good question, by the way.

If you suspect a word is misspelled, check another reference book. A lot of words in British English are spelled different than American English.
If you run spellcheck on your Yahoo! question, I'll bet you'll find a few. I have.
Here are a few:

go to yahoo, type in the question of what word you think is misspelled, then get a vote on if it's misspelled or not.

Yeah, I've wondered the same thing, like Wednesday, that one has never made any sense to me! I think we should change it to Wensday, that makes more sense to me..........:).....PS, I just did my spell check, and you guessed it, it said my spelling for Wednesday, was wrong, that's just not right!
