The "average temperature" is the wrong question to be asking. Especially in desert areas like Palm Springs, there will be a very wide variation in temperature between day and night. Palm Springs is likely to have highs of 70 F, but lows down into the 40s, and it might be very windy making it feel even colder. Anaheim temperatures probably about the same, but the wind isn't likely to be as bad. Rain is a possibility either place in December, but more likely in Anaheim than Palm Springs.

Anaheim will be fairly temperate, no freezing nights, maybe up to 70 some days, not much more than a foot of rain every year.
Palm Springs is desert, so you will have wide differences in temperature from day to night. It should be below freezing many nights and in the 70's during the day. It will be very cold in the morning. If you have to head to work or school bundle up, but it could easily be warm by the time you leave. Flash flood warnings are not uncommon for the desert areas around Palm Springs.

Cold enough to make frost form all over everything. Cars, grass, roofs, rocks. I don't know how cold that is, but it's cold. And it gets worse with every passing winter. One day it's gonna snow here.
