A conversation implies two ways, so the answer is no to having a conversation with plants. They can’t hear or see, no eyes or ears. No feeling because there is no brain or nerve endings and they grow into things like barbed wire, fences or any thing else near a growing tree. Despite what the earth huggers say, logic and physical facts say no to all the above.

Not a conversation. That is defined as:informal interchange of thoughts by spoken words. The plant can't respond to you...to give you its thoughts. As far as hearing and feeling? They probably sense (on some level) vibrations from sound waves, breezes. Seeing? Nah, I doubt it. I don't think that science has ever given us any evidence of the necessary nerves (optic in nature) that would be required for sight. But really...who cares? I DO talk to my plants while I am weeding, planting, moving...just like I talk to my dogs, and they can't answer me either. The really good part about it is that they never disagree with what I say, they are never grumpy, grouchy or whiny. Yep...plants and dogs, both good companions. One more thing...there is something truly grand to be said for the silence of green, growing things.

Gardeners (outoor and indoor ones) have done this since the beginning of time. Some say it helps the plants grow because of the carbondioxide emitted from our breath. Others feel that there is some spiritual connection to the plant. Whatever the case, is really seems to work. Do what you want to do. No doubt one benefit is that it could reduce stress for you.

On the TV show mythbusters their tests seemed to show that talking to plants helped them grow. However, music worked even better.
