Yes, we refuse to remember basic events that happened in this country. The USA constantly makes the same mistakes over and over forgetting that they were mistakes the first time. Example: Viet Nam and now a repeat performance in Iraq. Same incompetent government different time.

Yes, we often are. Leftists have developed a technique they call 'generational amnesia' in which they rewrite history every ten years or so because younger generations don't remember back that far and can therefore be tricked. In the US, the cycle has been reduced to about four years.
In four years, they can say something completely different from what happened and Americans will not remember enough to call them on it. This has been proven again and again.
One of the sadder ones is when they claim Saddam did not 'threaten' Saudi Arabia, that it was all a false assertion based on a doctored photo. Those Who Remember know that the first combat against Saddam's tanks was inside Saudi Arabia and that is where Saddam captured the first US troops in the Gulf War. Saddam's tanks invaded both Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
Leftists erase this history by claiming it was all a lie, that they were lied to by Rumsfeld, that people should be angry about being lied to, that we should 'vote our feelings'... what utter BS.
In many countries, leftists get the younger generation like China's Red Guard to simply murder the older generation as well as Liberal Intellectuals to erase the collective memory that might dispel their fabrications.
Bumpocooper makes a good point about fighting another Vietnam. It was leftists inside the US, like John Kerry and Hanoi Jane Fonda, who broke America's will to fight and handed victory to their Leftist buddies, the Communist VC. Even the Vietnamese military leadership admitted we had defeated them militarily but they persisted because Leftists in our country gave them hope that they still might win if they could hold on until Americans were sufficiently demoralized.
Look at who is trying to demoralize America today to know who our enemies are.
Leftists have mastered the psychology of propaganda and induced amnesia. Orwell's "1984" was a warning of how far they would go with it. Wells' "The Time Machine" was another.

The term "AMERICA" yes i call it a term, means different than interpreted. AMERICA is not ruled by its people we are ruled by wealthy people who vest their money into out economy and GOVERNMENT. This government and money duo i what is causing the problems in the United States..... break it down!
Just look beneath you and see how many "foreign" entities exert an influence on the system.
1. OIL - We consume close to half of the worlds oil, but we aint got no oil. how can we get it, thru someone who does, does it matter how? NO. So we deal with rogue governments pissing off their locals, who wanna kill anything termed America. Who is this America i see on TV people talkn abt killing. I have never seen anyone here who was planning to hurt people in other countries.
2. Ammunition - When locals start beef with their govts we step in to provide them with military business. Catch 22 begins, coz they hate their govt and us and we cant back off cuz if we do we pay the price.
But the common man in US of "Amnesia" has not hand in all these dealings, just those companies who supply the govt with munition, n oil companies who spew such trouble from outside within.
I think common people should vote out and change the way the country is run coz we seem to have really forgotten some of the shortfalls in the past.
Enuff said. Politics 101, stick around for 201 politics soln. LOL

Americans are more wrapped up in their everyday lives and it could possibly be our undoing. Out of sight out of mind. I call it choking on our own freedom and eventually it will be our downfall. I pray We The sleeping People awake. As were once the sleeping giant that Japan awoke.

Apparently. It seems that everyone likes to forget all the lies that got us into the current disaster in this country--and let the propagators of the lies go unpunished.
