If u r a male u have a chose of red or green .if u r a female u get a chose of red or blue pens. Is the probability of a student getting a red independent of the students gender? explain?

The question is impossible to answer without knowing how the pens are chosen. Are they drawing from a bag? One bag for all or one for males and one for females? Or are they simply choosing from a fixed number of pens? If you have this information, post it in an "additional details". If not, then you've been set an impossible question.
