this is a wonderful country; unfortunately, we are in terrible shape.....on many different levels. 1) bush is president. i could probably stop there....but... 2) the economy 3) the education system 4) bush 5) most people in this country are out of shape 6) the shrinking middle class 7) how we treat the environment 8) bush is still president.

The previous person said no place is in great shape. Unfortunately, I think that's American thinking, trying to reconcile the fact that our government and business leaders are selling us out but saying that we still have it better than everyone else. Well, I don't think that is true. There are some real up and coming countries out there. They're building a broad base and a bright future for their citizens. Can we say the same about our "greatest country in the world"?

Financially US can theoretically sustain it's debt as the GDP is quite large...but at the same time, having an almost $9 trillion debt is not a good thing either since it is approaching the magical 75% debt to GDP ratio. Socially, I think there are definitely its good points but there are many issues that need to be addressed. Knowledge is good but use it in a wise way...and definitely do not abuse power.

In great shape? It could use a little work out, every now & then...We could use some toning to strengthen a few problem areas...

I have chosen the USA as the Best place in the world for me to live in. And yes I am a US citizen and could live elsewhere if I chose to.
