I'm asking this question because I don't know anything better. I'm not trying to suggest anything or have any intensions other than I'm trying to learn because I'm stupid.

Anyway, everytime I watch tv, look @ billboards, or read magazine & newspaper, 3 out of 5 times, a white lady and a black guy are always paired together. If there are 2 white ladies, it's mostly likely the blonde (or with blonde highlights) would be paired up with a black guy. I want to understand the meaning behind it & why advertisers and producers feel it has to be that way. Ex. are TV commericals, news, extras for a show, ads from Sears, JcPenny, etc..

The other question is how come asian guys are not included in TV very often?

good observation. . . I really don't know. my first thought was that the public is warming up to biracial couples (hence the black guy w/ the white girl) but since there are still lots of people that don't approve of it (at least off of paper as in "My daughter is never going to date a black guy!" type of thing) they pair him with the blond, because they're "wild". As for asian guys, they really don't get much attention in general do they? I mean, unless it's a kung-fu movie. . . maybe the public doesn't see them as attractive? NOTE: I don't agree with the "public" on a lot of these things. I think that race doesn't matter.

If your Asian or anything for that Matter I apologize( I LUVV INDIA) it's because Blacks and Jews ( I'm MIXED SO I HAVE SLIGHTLY DARK SKIN) were discriminated the worst and people don't want to make others think that since Blacks pigment is darker, they can't be in magazines, tv etc. good question I don't understand why Asians aren't shown but it seems, like um..... I just don't know. I guess the publicists feel sorry for us (YES i count as black) for being discrimanted and I feel REALLY timid right now because I don't know if Asians aren't discrimanted.

It's my opinion that advertisers and the companies they represent a) want to appeal to all kinds of consumers, so they feature different kinds of people in their ads, and b) feel pressured to do so by the political correctness influences in society.

I'm wondering if to some extent this varies from region to region. I live in a good-sized city in NY State, in which we have many Vietnamese-born residents, quite a number from eastern European countries, and have demographics described as follows on a local web site (I think this applies to our county, not the city alone): "For people reporting one race alone, 90 percent were White; 7 percent were Black or African American; less than 0.5 percent were American Indian and Alaska Native; 2 percent were Asian; less than 0.5 percent were Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander, and 1 percent were Some other race. Two percent reported two or more races. Two percent of the people in [our city's] MSA were Hispanic. Eighty-seven percent of the people... were White non-Hispanic. People of Hispanic origin may be of any race." And we have plenty of Asian people in TV ads around here.
If you watch commericals for big advertisers such as Sears or Coke, it's almost like they make a point of having someone of every possible group in the commercial. But they probably don't do targeted commercials, for example, for Norwegian-Americans in Mississippi, or Asian-Americans in rural Maine. They put in people the most viewers can relate to.

The networks are controlled by the liberals. They think that by forcing these false images on the public it will give the illusion that there is no racial disorder in the world. In the real world most people don't mix. It's a fact. You're not stupid for asking this question. Maybe one day there will be racial harmony but the fact is there isn't and won't be for many generations to come. You wanted an honest answer, you got one.

Well,it has to do with their money flow.It is all economical, they want to "attract" more customers. If they show they are including other races in their adverts then they feel that they will appeal a little more and gain more customers and that means $.I am trying to figure out how to word this so bare with me,as this is merely my opinion as to why, lol.Ok,Let me use an example,i cant figure out how to word it right, lol. If they include a couple in their advert or television show that are interracial they are "appealing" or trying to "appeal" to more audiences, customers,or as they see it $'s.I am not sure why asians arent included in television very often,i have never noticed this.I am not racist, and i hope my explaination or opinion helped and didnt offend anyone.I had a hard time wording it properly.Sorry.Have a good evening.

I think it is because they want to put different races in advertising to keep from being seen as racial. I don't think it is purposely putting white women with black men. It is probably a coincidence. Asian guys probably aren't put in tv too much bc they are short and would have to wear big shoes or stand on blocks......lol. I am short too. 5'1". Lol. And maybe there is a shortage on asian models, sorry, no pun intended.

They want to cover all bases...good for sales and they also don't want any flack from any minority communities which might, and have in the past, screamed racial! These days it's accepted to see the inter-racial thing and it has been this way for the past, at least, 20 years! ( I take it your in your late teens to early twenties). But the fact remains, integration conquered segregation a long time ago and so it befits that commercials, and other media avenues will go with this flow. Like I started saying at the beginning, it's good for business! And don't they look handsome together...? Welcome to my generation!

The should definitely have more Asians. Maybe not many Asians pursue modeling careers? They mix races to give the idea that they are open minded and appeal to the broadest range of people that way.
