Try a little baking soda in water to neutralize the acid. Then blot dry. I don't think it will be too noticeable.

Wipe or spray on Rust Away (wear rubber gloves). Apply to rust with cloth, sponge, soak tank or spray. It is most economical to wire brush metal before applying. Let stand 5 to 20 minutes and rinse. Use straight or dilute up to 10 parts water depending on soil load and rust.
