Every time I set up a WIFI router, I am always asked where I live, and that it is illegal to choose the contry you don't live in. What would happen if I chose another country?

Thanks!

Each country has licensed a specific range of channels for WIFI use. If you choose another country you run the risk of using channels that are unauthorized. While the FCC probably won't find out, you could interfere with other electronic equipment. And, your WIFI on your laptop may not be able to connect and communicate.
