At least 15 or 16. Otherwise, you are not mentally and emotionally ready to handle the responsibilities of dating. And even when dating at that age, there should be strict guidelines from the parent(s) as to what the teen is and isn't allowed to do, there should be a strict curfew, the parents should meet the person the teen wants to date/is dating, etc.

16 if you double date. I have been married to my high school sweetheart, that I met at 14 and dated at 16 , for 28 years now.

to me its more of a maturity thing if you are mature and know how to be responsible then age really doesnt matter
