Yeah k2 are a good make as are most brands arouned today. Alot of people rate Burton highly and although they are good they are expensive and you can buy alot of boards equally as good but alot cheaper. It depends what sort of board you are looking for
if you are after an all arouned board a k2 darkstar is a good choice. Theres also a new brand called Signal which are made by the guy who used to make boards for lib tech, i rode one the other day it was amazing, probably the best board ive ever ridden
definately worth looking at.

I saw a yahoo answers Q where someone asked people to list their top 5 snowboard brands, K2 was in almost all, if not all of the answers. So they are probably an okay board.

I would go with Burton. They are the best in my book. Be sure someone very knowledgeable and experienced helps you with the size, with boots, bindings and your stomp pad style and placement.

Don't get ride boots, they fall apart and the company won't stand behind their product (experience).

If you are on a budget try picking up a used Burton board or a new model from last year. You'll save a lot.
