you can buy insulation for all applications but one way really does work.get the regular house insulation and just wrap it around your pipes completely. use the same type you would in your wall and make sure there is no exposed pipe. it will not freeze

20 inches of earth can make a wonderful insulator. Some areas require water lines to be a given number of inches below the mean frost line.

Knauf and Owens Corning are selling fiberglass pipe insulation. You can get it on a roll, about 1-1/2" wide, from Lowe's or Home Depot, but not at the on-line store.

Depending on where you live, anything from pipe insulation to electric heat tape will work. Both can be purchased a hardware or lumber store. Heat tapes wrap around the plastic pipe and have a thermostat, wrap it and plug it in. It will keep most pipes from freezing.

Get some pipe insulation that has a split in it. It will stay around the pipe & insulate it.

Split foam pipe insulation, available at any hardware store. Ask for PVC tape instead of duct tape.It lasts longer and there's no danger of chemicals leeching into the pipe..

Armaflex is good as long as it is not exposed to direct sunlight. Otherwise fiberglass.
