Today I was trying to describe the way a person talked. There is a woman who called for a business call. She speaks as if she is from another country. A country from Europe. Apparently she is not. She had me fooled. What is the word used to describe a person who uses a fake accent? Also what is the word to describe a person who uses a voice to sound like they are elegant and rich? It is a fake way of talking. Another person of a higher level talked to her today and she did not talk like that to him. She spoke normally, so I realize this is fake.

This is not when people are acting in a movie or a play. This is when people use this in real life.

I cannot remember these words to describe this and it is bugging me. Please help.

Nicki Hiltion is one person who uses the voice GTN described. In my opinion. I want to give that woman speach therapy.

The woman who was calling me was using some sort of fake voice. I am not sure which. I just thought she was foreign, but I am thinking it is the one GT described.

You might be referring to the word "affected." As in "affecting an accent" in order to make someone react a certain way by pretending to be someone or something they're not.

—adj.
1. assumed artificially; unnatural; feigned: affected sophistication; an affected British accent.
2. assuming or pretending to possess that which is not natural: Her affected wealth and social pedigree are so obviously false that it's embarrassing.
3. inclined or disposed: well affected toward the speaker's cause.
4. held in affection; fancied: a novel much affected by our grandparents.
