After your sister's water breaks, antibiotics would be administered for the period of the IV. as long because of the fact the antibiotics are given there could be no undertaking. My daughter had Strep B and carried her son low. She went into untimely exertions 2 months beforehand of transport and had to end paintings. She became no longer on bedrest, merely had to take it undemanding. She further a healthful 8lb. boy who's now 2 and a a million/2 months previous.

Not a big deal of all. A lot of people are Group B Strep + and it's not a big problem. Her caregiver will want her to take IV antibiotics during labor to help make sure the infection doesn't pass to the baby. (This would be very bad.....baby could get very sick.)
The longer she labors with her bag of water intact, the less the chance of infection for baby as well.....so she might not want to consent to AROM in labor. Tell her to take lots of vitamin C and eat vitamin C rich foods to help her grow a strong bag of water so it will stay intact longer. She'll also want to keep vaginal exams to a minimum once her water breaks.
She may also be reassured to know that this infection is something that comes and goes. She was positive at the time she was tested, but that does not mean she will definately be positive at the time of delivery.
I was GBS- for my first and GBS+ for my 2nd and 3rd babies. I didn't get antibiotics with baby #2 because I labored too fast. My water was only broken for 12 mins before she was born. She was absolutely fine, no problems at all. I did get my antibiotics with #3 and she was healthy too. My water was only broken for a couple of mins before she was born.

I have group b strep. Once you test positive for it you should always get antibiotics when you deliver, even if you don't test positive after your first baby. I am pregnant with my third child, and have not had any problems. I was given antibiotics at the on set of labor. I delivered both of my babies vaginally. If she plans on having any more kids she needs to inform her doctor that she has tested positive for group B strep. If you don't get the antibiotics your baby can get infections.

It has not happened to me during any of my pregnacies, but I worked in an ob where many women came in with this. Actually it is quite common in almost half of women. Regular prenatal care will closely moniter this condition. It is an infection that can spread to the baby during birth. When your sister goes into labor she wil need to get doses of ampicillen ( an antibotic) to prevent infection in the baby. Infections can cause a host of problems to the baby' health if not treated properly. Ususally the women are fine after birth.
