Sounds like a case of buying a pair of boots too small for your feet, also don't lace them up so tight and don't wear thick heavy socks that could subtract comfort from the inside. Avoid eating too much salt, since this causes you to retain water, also avoid deli meats etc etc---I would say, buy another pair of shoes just a size bigger next time.

Yes, your boots do keep your feet from swelling. Elevate your feet whenever you can. Tea is good, as it draws off a lot of water. Eve is totally wrong - caffeine makes you lose water, NOTretain it! And if your boots are comfortable when you put them on, they are not the problem. Tight boots cause blisters, not water retention.

But there is, unfortunately, one very serious possibility - swollen legs can be a sign of congestive heart failure. Especially if you otherwise feel tired a lot, please see a doctor ASAP! Water pills can help if tea is not strong enough. Probably best to check with your doctor even if you feel okay, just to be safe. I am concerned about your situation.

Your boots are tied too tight. The circulation gets cut off, which causes them to get smaller due to the lack of blood. After you take off your boots the blood goes rushing back into your feet which makes them swell. Loosen them up a bit and you should be fine.

Chance are...your boots are too small for your feet!!!

People's feet swell especially when you sit all day. Are you diabetic? Do you retain water (you must if you swell). Find out if you have any underlying illness that is causing that. Otherwise, drink lots of WATER. Avoid COFFEE, TEA, COLAS all of which contain caffeine which makes you RETAIN WATER. Chocolate too.

Try to get up and walk around at least every 20 minutes or so.

You know...i am having the same problem lately...and I attribute it to poor fitting shoes also...I was freaked out because I thought it was my circulation or my heart...but when this happens...maybe putting cold compresses on your legs and feet. and elevating them..and time to get new boots because they are causing it...I hate it because I usually walk three miles everyday, and now i don't get to for a while..the bottoms of them get warm also...it is very depressing for me...but i just have to give my feet a rest..so you should get some shoes with good shock absorbers..

Your boots maybe to tight also, when buying work boots I asume your a tradesman, well yo should buy boots alittle wider than your foot size so when your feet swell it has room to.

This is serious. Your boots sound too tight, most people buy shoes that are too tight. According to my podiatrist, if the shoe isn't comfortable when you try it on, don't buy it. Try to sit and elevate your legs several times during the day.
