They either put no thought into their questions, and answer to just get the lousy 2 points. But for what purpose? If you're not really answering questions, you're just wasting time. If they don't answer with something nonsensical, then they berate you: you ask a question, they respond by calling you an idiot. Though this problem could have its roots in the American public education system, I'm not sure. There seem to be a lot of cantankerous old retirees on the verge of senility answering these questions, too; why?

Has this Yahoo Answers thing actually given anybody any useful information or advice?

Correct grammar and punctuation are always greatly appreciated! Some can't because English wasn't their first language, and I totally understand. But if English is your FIRST language, you're calling me cranky and pessimistic, AND you're the product of an American public school education, then you've only proven my point.

You are wasting time with your question. It has been asked and answered many times.
You must be in the cantakerous group.

Gripe gripe gripe.... they're either YOUNG people trying vainly to be funny, or OLD people "on the verge of senility" who have experience and sense the young ones don't yet have.

Does Yahoo!Answers have a box you can check saying you only want redheaded mid-20 Asian lefthanders to answer?

HEY!!!!! I resemble that remark. Yes they do, most people do not take time to think about anything it is part of our new disposable society. Everything anymore is tossed away for new, to include our time. So people do not take time to really answer a question, instead they toss some drivel on the screen then move on to the next two points.

I must agree with you to a certain extent. Some people do just answer questions without thought. Some don't even make sense or it is just complete sarcasm. Although many people are here to help.

How about those people who post questions that have no point.

Sometimes the information is useful. Ignore the idiots and realize that not everyone is stupid. I don't agree about the older people, some of the younger ones are not too swift.

Welcome to the new educational system, your local school system, talked to a gal the other day, (in her late 20's) and could not tell me where Jamaica was.

We learned that in the 4th grade, but then I was out of school in '57.
