I like his powers, etc., but just wish the writers and artists would change his costume. Do you think his costume should be changed? What other characters from DC should get a costume make-over?

Yes, 38 is my age. I do read comics-I am not a drug addict, alcoholic, criminal, woman beater, child molester, or other deranged individual. Comics are one of my many hobbies, and it bothers me that someone would try to slam me for pursuing a hobby that doesn't hurt anyone. I guess if I were one of the above mentioned type of persons, I would be more accepted by society. Please be nice here.

As another over 40 comic reader, don't sweat the spleen of those who thought they discovered the comics world for the first time. (ps, don't tell them that Superman wasn't created for the first time in 1988!)

The Ray... I dunno. He was never one of DC's more popular characters, and when an energy-projector character is not clearly defined and carefully written, a lot of cruddy stores can result. Do you think his costume is all that needs to be changed...? I'd like to see Captain Atom become more like Dr. Manhattan in Watchmen, (which is who the character was originally SUPPOSED to be), sort of as a balance to Firestorm, who turned out to be a nuclear fire elemental.

Remember the time Ray was communicating with J'Onn J'Onzz...? He was using microwave pulses to cause subliminal sounds in J'Onn's sinuses. As a communications method, it worked, but J'Onn said, That's not telepathy-- THIS IS TELEPATHY! And he almost fried Ray's brain!

That's the kind of interaction I like to see, and the way it truly defines the limits and flexibility of powers. Writers who don't agree with such things are just lazy, and looking for an excuse for sloppy writing.

Still... a costume make over...? I really can't say. I don't care about costumes much in the first place. As long as they're recognizable and you can tell them apart.

Intriguing question, though. Keep on asking!

I don't know much about the Ray I guess, other than that I really liked reading a few of his books back in the 90s, including his showdown with Martian Manhunter.

As a 26 year old comic reader, who plans to still be reading comics when he's 38, I'd just like to offer my support. My support against gigantic idiots.

I believe The Ray should be like Captain Atom, pure energy. Yet, the writers do not expand his possibilities.

He should be have the attitude similar to Guy Gardner and the unlimited abilities like Firestorm.

His costume must reflex endless continuity. He should be a force that Darkseid would kill to recruit and Lex Luthor would destroy to harness.

Other for the Superhero Makeover:
- Zatanna - Steel - Star Sapphire -

Hey! Zatanna's costume is just fine.... leave well enough alone! As for the Ray, yeah- I never did like his helmet. And I'm over 40 ;)

Sorry to drift but is the 38 in your name your age? I don't know any grownups who read comics. Are there a lot of you? As far as costumes go, I think they are all outdated and could use a makeover. Maybe it could be part of an unreality tv show.

*I didn't mean to be offensive.....just curious.*
