port is missing. I have checked the USB cable and the power cord. I have tried everything I know to do. It might help if I knew what a "file name" is or what I am supposed to type in for the "path." No one has ever explained this to me. I am 79 years old and am just trying to understand what is going on with a computer. I have had a printer before but a part broke off of it and the co. had to send me another and I am having trouble getting the printer to work. Does anyone out there have any advice for me? Thanks a million.

Only thing I can think of is to un- install it and reinstall it see if that helps. Good Luck!

I've had the same problem before. You neglected to mention what kind of computer and printer you have, so I can only give you some basics.
• First make sure the correct printer driver file is installed.
• Then make sure the USB is connected correctly ( note: a lot of printers have problems if they are not connected directly to the computer. For example, mine doesn't work if I have it connected to a USB port in the keyboard. )
• Third, make sure the printer is on.
• Make sure your computer is picked in your printer chooser if you have one.
