I just had my third child and I don't want another. Even tho they are a wonderful thing, they are hard work. Me and my husband decided that three was enough since the last two preganancies were girls gave me hell for most of the time during the pregnancy. So is getting your tubes tied is it bad?

Don't feel bad for not wanting more children-It's smart to plan things like that. Getting your tubes tied does not hurt. However the anesthesia makes you a little queasy after the surgery for a day sometimes two. It's not like major surgery tho, very easy to get back at your normal routine. You will feel relieved afterwards to know you don't have to worry about getting pregnant again (do be careful of that 1% chance tho) and be able to enjoy the three you have. Good luck-I wish you and your family the best of luck.

Nope. Getting your tubes tied would not hurt since it would be done surgically. After you're healed up, there shouldn't be any discomfort. These days, it is an outpatient procedure and healing time would be 3-4 days. Understand that even though you're tubes are tied it is still possible to get pregnant (There is always a 1% chance) so practicing safe sex is still recommended (Be sure you are not ovulating while having sex).

I had my tubes tied in october 2004. During my 3rd (and LAST) pregnancy i lost 25 lbs. Once i got my tubes tied i gained it all back- but i never changed my eating habits. I felt a sense of loss- and even though that is nonsense, it felt like i had a part of me taken away, a choice of mine. I knew i did not want any more children- but when i had them finall cut and burnt, it really affected me.

There was bruising and i got sick a little bit, but my dr assured me that that was rare because most women dont experience it and can continue activities as quick as the next day.
