i moved into my friends place last year she never put me on the paper work but on every check i write rent and the month in the memo spot and she cashes them and the landlord knows i'm here.

Hell yeah...you pay rent...you have say so..if it doesn't work like that..pay rent somewhere else..

Yes you do have a say in what goes on to a certain degree.
I have a roommate- I pay our entire rent (he pays the bills). He is on the lease, I am not. I deal with the landlord when things are broken or when neighbors blare music at 2am. Although I am not on the paperwork, I have say in what goes on in this townhouse we rent.

Next time get the receipt in your name when you pay the rent. Tha tqualifies as paperwork.
