I was told by a co-worker i really respect a lot to "Stay grounded and you will be successful." I'm not quite sure how to take that?

It means keep balance in your life and your perspective. Keep doing everything you do, don't sacrifice important parts of your life for other parts. Remember who you are, what your worth is, and what your priorities are and then when adversities arise (as they always do) your perspective will be broad not narrow. Don't let insult or praise go to your head. Keep balance in your life: work/family/exercise/hobbies/sleep/spiritual-practice/community etc. Sounds like good advise from your friend. Best!

Do you offer lots of good ideas? Do you try to change things to make them work better? If so, don't trust this co-worker.

"Stay grounded" can mean lots of things, but coming from a co-worker I'd be suspicious that it might mean " don't mess with the status quo--just do the minimum required and don't try to change anything." The only thing you'll be successful at by doing that is not disturbing lazy workers. Your co-worker may have checked out.

Good luck!

a material object in the "ground" means that it is stationary or not moveable. Remember your original exillaration. Don't be intimidated or question youself by others. Litterally, stand straight, put your shouldrers back, put your head up high and receive YOUR ground.

It depends on your enviornment within your company, but my best guess is that you should stay within your department and not seek other opportunities (i.e., in other departments or parts of the company).

It means that you're good but also confident. Don't allow yourself to get too cocky.

Don't let your head be "in the clouds"---or keep it real, sort of.
