Atomic bomb wa the initial result of nuclear bomb inventions. Today, nuclear bombs are 10 to 20 times more powerful than the atomic they had dropped in Japan during WW2. The after effect is far more devastating, any human could imagine. Hopefully, they will not going to use any one of those.

SAN explained it well. An atomic bomb IS a nuclear weapon, but there are OTHER nuclear weapons BESIDES atomic bombs.

For example, the Hydrogen Bomb, which gives off more radiation than a regular Atomic Bomb (but both are still considered nuclear weapons).

In the common vernacular, the term nuclear bomb covers both atomic (fission) and thermonuclear (fusion) bombs. So, I would say an atomic bomb is a nuclear bomb, but a nuclear bomb is not necessarily an atomic bomb.

an atom bomb uses an atom and spilts it apart. a nuclear bomb uses any nuclear and radioactive chemical (could be an element or compound) and fuses with the out side air when landing causing it to explode on reaction.
