It means that the United States was a government that was founded as a democracy BY the people, FOR the people, and OF the people. Those that are elected BY the people, must work FOR the people, and represent the interests OF the people.

Those elected officials who do not represent the better interests OF the people, should fear losing their jobs come the next election.

When a Government becomes too tryannical, and no longer represents the people for whom it is elected to govern, those officals in government should fear...Dare I say?

REVOLUTION.

Hence, the 2nd Ammendment to the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES. It's not about hunting. It's about protecting the citizens from a tryrannical government.

I think they do...that's why they put all their defenses into place...like attack is the best defense

Ultimately no government can exist without people. And furthermore - people have taken control first with the french revolution and the invention of democracies. It's just a short next step that "the people " will be able to live productive and happily without governments (the Web will play an enormous role in this social development). A change of social understanding, away from top-down hierarchical leadership to bottom up or poly-hierarchic networks.

So - that's why they seek to control, they fear, they fear to lose the power and the money which comes with it. They may think they can keep and maintain control by installing fear.

Our government has slowly taken potential from the States and from the folk over the final 200+ years. those spurts are often larger whilst Liberal human beings are in value as they do it decrease than the guise of "helping human beings" or "social reform"... yet that doesn't mean that the so-referred to as Conservatives are not appealing in potential grabs to boot... if reality be told, in the present day's Republican party is in simple terms as Liberal through fact the Democrats of the 60s. What we want is a real Conservative party which will return the federal government to its Constitutionally mandated limits.

Thomas Jefferson wrote once that :"A country can never be great unless it has a rebellion about every 20 years" Back in his time it would be much easier than it would be today. If the people tried that today they would be shot for trying to overthrow the Govt. And,like someone all ready answered No one cares, and not many vote.
