I work as a concierge. I see this everyday. Kids with no rearing in manners and just being polite. It seems that the goal of the parent is to coddle the child, not to be responsible for their own actions. I think the child loses out in becoming a responsible and mature member of society. I have a teacher friend and she says that it's absolutely out of control.

Its not just you and it's not just kids. It's all of society. Just read some of the questions and answers on here.
You might notice as we push God and His standards further away from us, we grow worse and worse socially. Coincidence? I think not.

As a teacher I can agree with your friend. It is out of control and most of the reason is that either the parents are too young and don't have a clue, or the parents are non-existant and don't supervise their kids. When I have a problem with a kid and I try to call I don't get an answer, or the phone is out, or some other reason pops up. When I write them a letter, the kid gets the mail and the parents never see it. When I finally get ahold of the parents they make some lame excuse for the kid, or say "I'll talk to them." and the behavior never changes......in fact, they usually show up with a new $200 outfit the next day and brag about it. I am so disturbed with what is happening with our kids. The parents are doing them a huge diservice by not being there. They want to be their buddy, but that is not what the kid needs. My mom was my best friend, but the minute I did something wrong I new better.

Its not just you! Yes, I completely agree. Kids now a days seem to be completely out of control. I work in a restaurant and see oh too often the child misbehaving and the parent will just look the other way. There is absolutely no discipline. And I can't tell you how many times I've seen a child take maybe two bites of their dinner and then they are allowed to have dessert afterward. I think it's a result of parents having kids way too young. They aren't prepared at all emotionally, physically, financially, mentally. What ever happened to the days when respect and shivelry ruled?

The Kids nowadays can terrify the parents so easily -- the balance is tipped the wrong way -- if the parent even tries to figure a way to punish the child -- the first thing the child does (with the help of their friends, and EVEN the instructors at school) is to call the Child Abuse Hotline. I am talking about such things as removing the TV or DVD player from their room, controlling the phone so there are NO phone calls after 10PM, treating the parent with respect (instead of throwing their dirty laundry at them), cleaning their rooms (instead of trashing them), etc etc etc.

You are not alone in your thinking, my parents taught me respect my elders, i taught my children to do the same, when we bought into the nuclear family drivel, and families disintegrated by this so called free society we all adhere to manners and respect went out of the window, latch key kids kids sat in front of a tv 24/7 did not help .

It's just you.....lol just kidding but I've noticed that too damn these kids (lol I'm 14) are growing up way too fast and when my generation grows up people are gonna be so rude, lazy, and greedy! Even more than they are now I guess it's the parent's fault like you said...but I see people (my friends lol) acting like that and it makes me feel sad so I just try to be nicer and even more polite and I am very responsible so don't worry not all kids will grow like that but the majority will...sorry....

She is right as you are too. My friend is convinced she can raise the perfect child..
Isnt it funny how people believe that they have perfect children until they have to deal with them.
