I'd like to possibly participate in a civil war reenactment, to show my talent in the civil war. I'm 16 years old, and when I'm older, I would like to dress up as a confederate soldier, and release my anger in fighting over state's rights, and slavery from the years 1861-65.

I wouldn't think it would be dangerous. Many people participate in civil war reenactments and they are fine.

If you got the cash to do so, the rifle will cost you anywhere from 400 to 600 dollars in some cases, the uniform will vary depending on the unit your with but it is not cheap either. Some of the jackets run about 60 to a hundred dollars. Some people I know have spent well over 1200 dollars.

The biggest danger is overheating in the uniform if you ask me. Otherwise you never load a real round into your rifle, you fire the powder with no ammo. I think the general rule is that you don't insert the ram rod into the rifle so that you don't mistakenly fire it into someone.

Seems to me that your anger would be better resolved doing something positive to further states' rights or civil rights. The civil war is over. Please remember that the nature of a reinactment that it will always end the same--with the Confederate side losing the war. I don't think this will help you "resolve" any anger. I think the reinactments are more about history than anger. Anger can be pretty dangerous when misplaced.

Well, for you, it's going to be VERY dangerous, because you say you are angry. Why? It was hundreds of years ago. Let it go already.
If you go out there with that much realism and a load of anger, you are going to get hurt or hurt someone else. The formations are real, you move across real fields, there is black powder, a lot of metal and rifles pointing about. FORGET it unless you are not angry. It's about reenacting history, not getting your anger out.

I don't beleive it's that dangerous. I've seen two of them, and both times it didn't look very realistic. You practice it I know, And the weapons aren't actually real. You should do it. I think it would be fun. And don't be scared by the danger factor because the only way you could really get hurt is if you tripped or someone went crazy with their fake gun. That's my opinion.

All you do is re-enact certain battles.
Though you may talk in character during downtime to other soldiers or viewers, you don't really get a chance to release your anger.
They would use blanks, so no more dangerous than camping somewhere else. Unless you fall down.

Being a reenactor and as long as you are with a decent unit there is little to no danger. The only danger comes from untrained men in the line. Personally in my 22 years I have seen no one hurt except one guy who slightly stabbed himself with his own bayonet.
