Let's use the example of water... it's a liquid until you freeze it to make ice cubes, or a solid. Lowering the temperature enough to freeze a liquid will make a solid.

Depending on the freezing point of the liquid. Also take into consideration the required atmospheric pressure to change the phase (form) of the substance. For example, H2O has afreezing point of 100 degrees celsius. So, placing a 1 cup of water in a freezer would turn the 1 cup of water (over time) into 1 block of ice.
