It seems like people treat you worse if you don't act like everyone else..........

That's because the members of a group need to be the same in order to survive. It's an evolutionary trait. The different ones get weeded out in the long run.

It's because everybody is soo accustomed to the "norm" of society and in lament terms they're taught how to think/believe/ and what this and that is supposed to be like. Many people look at me and my other friend since we're the ony 2 black guys @ School who listen to rock and everything else and do not live up to our stereotype that others have taught each other about.

Well all i have to say is just be true to yourself, "I rather be hated for who i am than loved for who im not"

What you describe is the tyrrany of the group. For some reason, in my humble experience, folks in a group tend to be like sheep (they travel in herds and they aren't very bright).

To get some perspective, try asking yourself what kinds of things you would like to do / learn more about if you could, and do something different without your usual crowd. Depending on your age, you might check out the local parks & recreation class schedules and learn something new, take a chance and meet new people out of your usual comfort zone. Good luck in your adventures!

Diversity, is what makes life interesting, you cant control what other people think, do, act, or say. You can only control how you react to them. If you feel good about who you are, that's whats important. There are probably many people out that that would like you for your opinions, views, looks, and mind. They will find you, just be you, and the rest will solve itself.

I agree with Brian on the group thing. I think it's wired in us to try to be like everyone else. But yeah, it is hard being different.

It takes strenght to be different. I know it's hard because everyone wants to fit in, but be true to yourself....in the long run you will be thankful you did. Be around people that accept you for who you are...the rest are not your true friends.

that's true people seem to like to be around people that are like them that think like them and talk like them they get threatened if you choose to disagree or just have a different point of view but don't change for anyone but yourself try your best to get along there are other free thinkers out there

you don't worry about them, you will meet people that don't make you feel very different at all. that's what happened for me, but if you are one of those hot topic kids that go around dying their hair purple and blue and expect "normal" people not to notice them or give them a reaction, that is your own choice. you also have to think about what to expect when you make choices like that.

They are the ones with the problem. They're like mindless drones following the crowd.

You just be you, and don't worry about what others think.
