Gallons of what? Are you looking for the number of gallons of gasoline to travel the distance? If so, how many miles per gallon does the vehicle get?

You know distance: 157 miles
You know your mileage: 20 miles/gallon

It's a simple matter of dividing:
For example if it were 100 miles, and you could travel 20 miles on a gallon, it would be 100/20 or 5 gallons.

Same thing for your distance of 157 miles
157 miles / 20* miles/gallon = 7.85 gallons

*Your mileage may vary :)

hmm ... let's assume the distance and call it "d" miles
let's call the mileage = "r" miles/gallon
and let "g" = number of gallons

d = r * g .... (distance = mileage rate * num gallons)

so ....

g = d / r .... (gallons = distance / mileage-rate )

hope this is what you were looking for.
happy driving :)
