Yes, at around age 30 I developed an incapacitating fear of heights. It got so bad I couldn't go up a step ladder to change a light bulb or fly commercially.

So I took flying lessons and terrified the living sht out of myself 70 times and it helped some, but mostly just enabled me to fly (smiles). But then, about five years later the fear just went away by itself and now I'm ok again.

My fear is violent car crashes. It's kind of ironic too, since I used to race stock cars. Hitting a concrete retaining wall head on at 75 miles an hour didn't hurt nearly as much as I thought it would...
But the fear is still there.

I'm afraid of heights but I am always the first one in line for the highest roller coasters. I won't let my fear keep me from having fun.
