Why is it that you never hear of any footballers who are gay, are there none or is it kept very quiet ??/ Do you know any ??

Even though being gay is becoming more acceptable as far as society goes there are still sterotypes about gay men. We think of gay guys as effeminate, and as a result not good at sports. There are people working to break down these sterotypes, but there are also people who work to re-enforce them. I think one day soon it will be accepted that a gay man can be in all types of jobs, but until then the more masculine professions: sports hero, solider, construction worker will be thought of as a straight male haven.

Well mainly due to the fact that, a soccer player spends nearly all his time with men, and for any of his fellow peers to find out makes things that little more uncomfortable.. Justin Fashanu came out and his life completely changed. He left football and then ultimately commited suicide.. maybe that gives you an idea..

You just never hear about it till years later after they retire and decide to let it all out. Theres just too much media spotlight on them so they let it all bottle up. Afaird the media and fans, etc may view them different if they are gay.

Maybe because that's nobody's business and without a doubt it would endanger the persons career. Who's straight ? Don't you assume everybody? I care what happens on the pitch not in someones bedroom.
