The short answer: You may be looking in the wrong places.

Without having more information, I always say: Go out and do things you like to do or learn something you've always wanted to know more about; you can do this by taking a class with your local parks & recreation department or local junior college (both are relatively inexpensive). You will meet like-minded people in situations in which you are having a good time, AND you may find that you have a lot in common with the people you meet.

Another example / possibility: I happen to be more of a small town kind of person (which I didn't know at the time; I just knew I hated the suburbs, where I'd always lived & been raised), and when I moved to a smaller town, I found, to my surprise, that I met a lot more people that I had a lot more in common with, friends & lovers alike.

I happened to find this all out when I ventured out into the world on a short road trip, and decided to move to a small town nearby (that I had no idea existed!) & that I liked the looks of.

Good luck in your search!

It isn't that assholes get the girls. Confident, attractive guys get all the girls. The rest of us simply decide that they're assholes. (And usually we're right. Nothing is as loathsome as their vain narcissism).

Because in some strange way us girls like men to dominate(don't ask me why) and sometimes we look at the nice ones as being pushovers. I'm not saying its right but sometimes its true.

I believe in "love at first sight". You haven't met her yet.
