Myth #13: Homosexuals spread AIDS. AIDS is a disease spread by unsafe sexual contact (primarily to the passive partner in intercourse), dirty hypodermic needles, contaminated blood transfusions, and from mother to child before birth. Gays have taken great care to educate their community, practice safe sex, and minister (in the true sense of the word) to those unfortunate enough to have caught the disease. Because most gays have changed their sexual activities and are now practicing safe sex, new infections in the gay community have leveled off. Meanwhile, infections are on the rise in the heterosexual community. The myth, "If you don't go to bed with someone gay you won't get AIDS," is hurting the heterosexual community more severely than it's hurting the homosexual community.

Worldwide, AIDS is primarily a heterosexual, not homosexual, disease. It is a sexually transmitted disease that—for whatever reason—entered the gay community in the United States and stayed fairly contained there for a number of years. It is now spreading through the heterosexual community, and will continue to do so until heterosexuals realize that AIDS is not a "gay disease." Any sexually active person—male, female, gay, straight—can get it. If you have intercourse, use a condom. There's hardly a gay person in the country who does not know this rule of safe sex. Can the same be said of heterosexuals?

Further, 25 percent of the AIDS cases—including almost all cases involving heterosexuals and children—were spread by or directly connected to dirty needles. If heroin or morphine were inexpensive, readily available, and sold in use-once syringes, do you think these 25 percent of AIDS cases would be suffering today?

I'm not even gay but yet I feel compelled to defend those that drink from the furry (sp?) cup and those that speak of ' the love that dare not speak it's name'. I would advise not going down on your boyfriend if his manhood has got spots on it, he might not be gay yet he has an STD, what up with that ****? You are spreading more than them with your mispelled words. Wait a minute I've just had a thought you got a STD with sleeping with a bisexual man that just happened to have a STD that he could have got from your best girl friend. The only answer is to not have sex, it is a grown up thing anyway.

I think you need to do some research before you start asking questions like this. Just for the record, it is straight black men age 20 to 30 that have the highest rate when it comes to AIDS. This is very sad to me. Discovery Channel just did a special on STD's, and after 2 years of all of these studies in several different major cities, that was the results.
For treatable STD's and Hepatitis C it was white men in their 20's because of their use of needles for drugs.

actually, i don't be responsive to precisely how this funds would be spent, yet especially, spending on prevention often ends up in low value fees in a protracted time. permit's in simple terms say as an occasion that this spending will effect in 2 million people not getting STDs. And of those 2 million, say 500,000 receive gov't well being care of a few variety, then it particularly conceivably ought to shop the gov't nicely over that $335 million interior the destiny, besides as attaining a very worth objective of lowering the unfold of STDs, inclusive of AIDS.

Oh My...another one of those people being rude and hateful. Statistically heterosexuals spread the majority of STD's than homosexuals. The standard rule 10% of America is openly gay. So the rest are heterosexual. That equates to 90%!

I heard that some people don't tell their partner they have a disease, so do it because they don't know they have an STD, and some do it because they're just horny. I think STD's are the biggest flaw in yall's community, maybe you just shouldn't have sex till your........oh I'm sorry gays can't marry. Maybe you should use condoms...Now I don'[t know what to say about lesbians. But hardly any lesbians ever get AIDS.

Um, not true really. Its no longer the "gay plague" and is now more likely to be spread by straight people. Especially those who go to ibiza, get pissed and have a one night stand without protection. So I think you'll find its nothing to do with being gay.

hey go back to school gay people are not the only ones who spread std's. everyone who has unprotected sex spreads them. Maybe if the right and religous groups would tell the truth there wouldn't be so many stupid people out there..

The epidemic of STD's cannot be attributed solely to the homosexual population. Unfortunately, the many promiscuous heterosexuals have to share in the responsibility for this.
