This is a serious question for thoughtful people. I am not looking for a simple "How could you say that I love Bush" or "I hate Bush" rant. Just want the facts, like Joe Friday used to say. And please don't have a fit because I asked!

There absolutely are similarities. Most importantly, is that in both cases elitist powers were and now are self-deluded and their major strategy is to use lies and propaganda to cause mass delusion about the government's authenticity, capability and intentions. In both cases, a culture of lies and dishonesty displaced civic enagement. The Bush administration in a most fundamental way is completely antithetical to a true democracy.

I'd say a little bit. I'm not american so my american law is a little hazy, but wasn't there an Act passed by Bush after 9/11 that quasi-violated privacy issues? Something like that, anyway. Oh, and there was also that small controversy a few months back about surveillance on people's phone conversations (or something along those lines). So, I guess if he, somehow, goes for a third term, I'm pretty sure he will send the gestapo to your door.

There are absolutely no similarities. We are at war with Facist/Nazi muslim terrorists, who would impose their religion on not only us, but the whole world. The facts are, every act of terrorism committed in the world today are being committed by these terrorists. If you don't believe me, the internet can provide the proof. I challenge you to look it up. Please educate yourself.

Hitler gobbled up Europe in less than a year. Poland, followed by Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, France, The Netherlands, etc. Only the English Channel stopped Hitler from occupying England.

Hitler was responsible for the holocaust, which killed over 6 million Jews, Catholics, and others.

You seemed to ask for an objective, factual answer. Here's a question for you. Have the policies of the Bush administration, led to any atrocities of the magnitude committed by Hitler?

I'll repeat my opening statement: We are at war. Just because our industries are not producing war machines, tanks, planes, munitions, etc. on the scale it did during WWII, does not deter from the fact that our very existence, our culture, our freedoms, are at risk. Should the radical Muslims win this war, the entire world will be plunged into darkness.

All it takes for evil to flourish, is for good men to do nothing. I know, it's an old saw, it's tired and perhaps overused, but I can think of nothing more applicable to the world's current situation.

Think about my answer, and ask yourself if Bush is like Hitler. If your answer is Yes, there is one less person in this war. I hope you remember this, for should we fail, you, and all of us, will be forced to pray to Mecca five times a day.

There's a book on IBM and the Holocaust that might be helpful to you on this.

Yes --I absolutely believe that there is. People have such a reaction to the word that we don't stop to think about the question. Also --not enough people know about this subject to know. . .

Anyways, the way they got people to not care about what they were doing (murdering and re-locating Jews and others) was to give them a better life materially. I believe people were willing to turn a blind eye. They benefited economically from less people in business, were "inheritors" of land, homes, valuables. The production of the country of raw materials (hair, for example) created material possibilities. . .

And today --in corporations very often we are just "doing our job" and causing someone (the "little guy") harm in the form of a broken heart or more. And we lose sight of what's really important I think.

Thanks for letting me have a place to say all that. I've needed to get that out for some time. . .

and you know already how people are going to react to this question I think. Just know it isn't personal.

Bush has this mentality that he is absolutely right to the point of denial, which is a similar characteristic of Hitler. For example, the belief that there were WMDs in Iraq.

Bush also has exhibited a desire to act unilaterally in the belief that he knows best - there was no real effort to build an international consensus to invade Iraq.

There is also a pattern of deception in the linking of Iraq to 9-11.

The major difference is that Hitler seemed to believe he could take over the entire world, and the neocons simply want to take over key parts of the world to control it.

there might be some, but Bush didn't implent the United States as a totalitarian state, yet, so I can't say there are any similarites, except for some infringements of civil liberties, BUT as soon as the Bush administration starts killing millions of innocent people, i'll say yeah

No, hon, there aren't. If there were, you'd have the gestapo on the way to your door right now. We've been through this question how many times? Can't you people come up with something interesting AND intelligent or is this all you have?

Yes, both use a small group as a scapegoats and make them into a threat to everybody's safety to erode civil liberties and reach their personal goals. In Hitler's case it was power, in Bushes case it's money.

Unprecedented war-mongering, institutionalized discrimination against gays, demonization of liberals and intellectuals, and inept military leaders.

To be fair, Bush is not out to push a "final solution" against any particular group of people. He may be an idiot and corporate shill, but he's no Fuhrer in the sense of eradicating a particular population. He just likes power and $$$$.

I also think a bristly little moustache would work well for him, Cheney, and Ann Coulter.

Not really, the "Bush Admin" is only one branch of the government, while Hitler had no checks on his power.
