Therefore: -2p + 7 = 3 - 5p -1
=> -2p + 7 + 5p = 3 - 1 (p's to he left side)
=> -2p + 5p = 3 -1 - 7 (numbers to the right side)
=> 3p = -5
=> p = -5/3 = -1,667 (divide by 3)

-2p + 7 - 3 = 3 - 3 - (5p + 1) subtract "3" from both sides
becomes:
-2p + 4 = -(5p + 1)

now put all the terms with the unknown variable "p" on one side, and the constants on the other.
